What You Need to Be Handling on Loading Day

Moving day has at last arrived! You’ve spent a great deal of time preparing for this time, and if you took the time to hire a quality relocation company, today will be a simple event. The moving crew will handle all the heavy lifting from here.

On moving day it’s finally time to stop organizing and begin carrying out. In case you have missed any of the prior pieces of this series, you can read up by selecting the links below:

Watch out for your belongings - and yourself!

It is always beneficial to get a great night’s sleep the evening before moving day —and make time to eat a substantial breakfast. It is sure to be a eventful day, and you’ll just feel better throughout the day if you’re well rested and well fed. You’ll be happy you did!

On move day, it’s critical to be available throughout the process. When your crew members get there, provide them a short walk through of your home, showing any delicate items requiring extra care and also any objects you do not want the movers to remove. This will enable them to get an idea for the home and your expectations.

We recommend having a good book or magazine selected for relocation day. It’s important for you to be on hand during the move in case any of the movers have questions, but once the crew members get started you will have some idle time on your hands. Since your TV and computers will all be packed up, you will want to make sure you have something to keep you entertained.

Attention to detail

After the tour, the movers will begin laying down floor protection. If you are relocating interstate, your crew leader will begin crafting a thorough inventory list of each piece you’re moving, and their state at origin. This list will be used to ensure everything arrives at your new location in the same condition as it departed your current house.

When the mover’s are completed, it is important to check through the location one more time with the crew leader and verify that all things have been loaded. Make sure to open all the closets, cabinets, and storage areas for any unnoticed items. Once everything is taken from of the space, you will talk with the driver and sign all of the move documents.

One final look

After the crew members take off, complete your relocation day by walking through your house one final time to double-check that the windows are all locked, the lights are all turned off, and your water and furnace are all set. Say your well wishes to your house – it supported you well, but you have a new space waiting for you!
